Text messaging: part of our everyday lives but when it comes to arranging dates and keeping in touch with someone special, make sure you follow these rules.
1) Keep in touch:
you should send at least one text a day to show you are thinking of him (especially if you're out of town). However, don't go over the top and bombard him with non-stop messages, which could scare him away.
2) Respond straight away:
if not, then your date will think he is being ignored. Nobody is far from their mobile phone nowadays and if you are in a meeting/ on the tube, then make sure you respond with 'just got your text' when you do get back to him.
3) Running late?
An appologetic text is essential and polite. No need for elaborate excuses; keep it short.
4) Don't guess:
Texts can be vague and allow the imagination to run riot, which leads to all kinds of misunderstandings, so don't jump to conclusions or send angry responses. Instead say: let's talk later and speak in person.
5) Don't break-up by text message:
It's cowardly and puts you in a bad light. Treat him with respect and in the way that you would like to be treated yourself. Remember what goes around comes around too!
